This production showcases how NGOs and institutions can benefit from working with a small, highly specialised agency for ethical film making in sensitive contexts.
The Institute of Development Studies requested a film to promote their innovative participatory research CLARISSA where working children themselves lead the study and their pathway to overcome the worst forms of labour.
Rather than focusing deeply on the issue of child labour itself, the film shows the innovative methodology to encourage an audience of researchers and decision makers to consider this participatory action research rather than the traditional pre-structured approach.
The interested audience should be pointed at the research outcomes on the programme’s website to get more familiar with the concept and understand its benefits.
This demanding goal led to a very open and constructive concepting stage, a team setup with fantastic photojournalist Saumya Khandelwal as the film’s host and narrator and an agile production in scenes of night clubs, toxic leather production and inspiring interviews.

How resilient are we as a society, and as individuals, when a crisis shakes the world? No matter who we are, or where we live, chances are the pandemic has transformed our life. The same applies to the farmers supplying the world’s food, whose stories often go untold.
Meet Ponisih, Caroline and Roberto and get an inside look at the challenges, fears and hopes of three farmers refusing to give up, and standing for a fair future.
This unscripted documentary series, filmed in Indonesia, Kenya and Peru, will show how their real lives evolve over half a year.
In each location, a team of local filmmakers with links to social activism is capturing what is happening. Each with a unique style, true to who they are and what they see, they have been instrumental in arriving at moving, authentic portraits.
This filmseries was produced as a staff member of Fairtrade Germany with co-producer Thorsten Kleinschmidt and Fairpicture.
This documentary and the activities are partly funded by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The Kenyan NGO „Sustainable Agriculture Community Development Programme Kenya“ (SACDEP) supports young people from the rural Lamu region to gain sustainable income from agriculture. The German Catholic Rural Youth organization KLJB supports the project and aimed for increased visibility of the achievements. Together with film maker Nyokabi Kahura and SACDEP we created two personal stories in one film that is being used in various presentations throughout Germany. The result is a great example of authentic storytelling that promotes a local sensitive perspective and that gains impact across boarders.
